Tesco Lotus Regional Distribution Centre, Surat Thani, Thailand

TESCO LOTUS has opened a new distribution centre in Phunpin district of Surat Thani province, Thailand. The centre with investment of Bt.2.5 billion will serve nearly 200 TESCO LOTUS stores in 11 provinces in the Southern region of Thailand.

The distribution centre with a service area of 53,000m2 includes cold storage facilities and caters various products from groceries and temperature-controlled fresh food to non-food items. The Surat Thani DC is built according to latest innovations in the distribution technology with environmentally-friendly concepts. It will be one of the most advanced and energy-efficient facilities in Thailand.

Peikko delivered over 2km of TERAJOINT^® free movement joints which have been used in the concrete floor of the distribution centre.

TERAJOINT^® is a prefabricated leave-in-place joint system designed to build formed free-movement joints, consisting of heavy-duty arris armoring, permanent formwork and a load transfer system. It is suitable for all large-area construction methods for ground-bearing and pile-supported concrete floors. The cold drawn steel rails provide durable protection of the slab arrises, making it ideal for floors in heavy duty traffic environment.
